Hello, and thanks for visiting our website. This Website was started as a way to promote the produce we raise on this farm. Our farm is located at W706 Atkinson Road, Albany, WI 53502. We raise Jersey Steers for Beef, Berkshire Hogs for Pork, and from time to time I will have other products available such as alfalfa, firewood, and logs that can be cut for board wood. I will post the produce on the page associated with the product. If you click on the 3 horizontal lines in the upper left corner, it will list the other web pages where you will find what is currently available and what is coming available when, and how to place your name on it via an email to russvwhitehead@gmail.com or by using the contact page on this web site.
All meat is processed at Hoesly's Meats in New Glarus unless you request otherwise. If you need firewood, with a notice, I can get that for you. If you are interested in a log I post for board wood, I have a neighbor that can cut it into boards at a very reasonable price.
The picture above was taken on 12/6/2020. It was just before sunset and as I was feeding the boys alfalfa enjoying the colors of the clouds offset by the setting sun, I just had to take a picture and share.
History of the Atkinson Homestead
Burr Oaks Acres is a farm that was given the name by Richard Atkinson, the first Atkinson to own the property, which he purchased in 1851. It was named Burr Oaks Acres for 13 very large Burr Oaks trees, 11 of which were located in a small grove of trees south of the farm buildings, and 2 that are along the drive. Ten of the original thirteen trees are still alive, some not doing so well, but still upright.
Although Burr Oaks Acres is referred to as the Atkinson Homestead, this is not actually correct. The property was homesteaded by Benjamin Randall in 1846. Benjamin and Mary Randall sold the 120 acre homestead to Richard Atkinson in 1851, and the farm has been in the Atkinson Family since, and has grown to 160 acres. The names and dates of the owners of the property, (as taken from a recorded deed I received upon purchasing the land from my in-laws), are listed below.
